Why the Blog Title?

A phrase like "Redial Again" makes all the sense in the world if you're being coached on harrassing another phone owner in order to give yourself some sick sense of control, but as a blog title it probably leaves some heads scratching. (being scratched? Can you scratch with your head? Further investigation required).

The reason this blog is titled "Redial Again" is because when I was around 12 or 13 years of age I decided to create my own webpage entirely dedicated to the redial button on phones. Why the big deal over phones and more particularly the redial button on phones was discussed in that website and won't be brought up again. It's a part of my life that is behind me.

I was very proud of my site and it's cool features like a hit counter, and three dots that would each take their own turn to light up green. If I had only discovered the floaty circles that follow your mouse all over the page I would have been all over it, but for a 12-13 year old boy taking his first leap into the internet world on his dad's mac, using only the hour that was given to him since the dial up took up the phone line, it was pretty damn good.

A couple months ago I tried in vain to find my old site, but sadly it's gone forever. Therefore, I've set out to carry on and make redial happen again. I really don't care about the redial button anymore, in fact it's almost a thing in the past with land lines dying out, but it's the spirit of creating something so completely random that made me do this blog. That and a couple hours to spare at work the day before New Years.

  1. I feel bad for the land lines...they kept us in contact for so long and we kick them to the curb so quickly for mere convenience. Even more sad, the advent of the "phone book" in cell phones has also made number memorization a dieing art along with the death of land lines. I still remember my best friend's phone number from California. However, I called you twice today and still, for the life of me, cannot recall your number. It's sad. I look forward to future blogs. Keep me laughing!
